Question:
How does a new member get started in the club?
Answer:
- You
can JOIN US
online by filling out the membership
registration form. You will receive instant access CHOA member's
only area.
- Create
your Profile by logging in, clicking on the profile button on
top and selecting "Create Profile". This helps other members know
who you are and what you look like.
- We
highly recommend you to attend the New Members Orientation. You
will have an overview of the way CHOA works, and receive answers
to your questions at our monthly orientation meeting. Hikes and
outdoor activities are also good first time events.
- If
you are shy, ask a colleague or friend to accompany you. You're
always allowed to bring guests.
- Contact
the leader of the event you are attending via the Messaging System.
Click on the leaders name and let them know you are new and don't
know anyone yet. They will be sure to look for you.
- If
you have a question take a look at the Questions page. If your
question is not answered here, send a message to: support@choa.com.
- When
attending an event, ask people how long they were in the club.
You'll be surprised to see that not everyone is a veteran member.
Many members are new and some are on their first event.
- If
you think of an event that we don't have posted, you can post
your event suggestion on the Bulletin Board. The newest members
tend to have the newest ideas for cool events and this keeps the
club interesting.
- If
you attend an event and someone makes you uncomfortable, or the
leader did something wrong in your eyes, PLEASE Email membership@choa.com.
Your name will be kept confidential and we need input from the
members to keep this club fun, safe and our leadership effective.
Question:
I'm interested in joining the club. Could I get a trial membership?
Answer:
- We
no longer give out trial memberships to anyone. From past experience,
the people who get a trial membership seldom make the effort to
come out to an event. Basically, this follows the old saying,
"People only value what they pay for."
- CHOA
is a wonderful club with many happy members and hundreds of events
each month. Given this, it is safe to assume you to will enjoy
the club. You will make friends in this club. You'll always have
things to do every day. You also will get to know the area very
well.
Question:

Question:
What is the policy on bringing guests to events?
Answer:
- We
allow members to bring guests providing there is room for them.
If a member has a friend from out-of-town, it is a nice benefit
to be able to just bring them along. Often some members bring
their parents or children on some events. If you ever have any
doubt feel free to ask the event leader.
- One
important thing to remember, a member is held accountable for
his guest's behavior and can be held responsible if the guest
causes trouble or damage
