This event is open to all levels of backpackers wanting to up their training and/or get ready for a big trip.
We will hike about 9 miles at Crowders mountain with a weighted backpack. The amount of weight you need depends on your level. I have been out of the loop due to an ankle injury so I will be starting with 25lbs and will move up to 50lbs with in 2 months. Feel free to chicken me if you need help with your pack and the weight.
If enough are interested we can start a training group!
We will try and average about 2.5 miles per hour and do about 2000 feet of gain. You should use a weight that will allow you to move at this pace and then add weight once you have improved. Treking poles will help with the descents.
Bring enough food and water for about 2.5 to 3 hours on the mountain.
