The Tanawha Trail is a 13.5 miles trail along the South side of Grandfather Mountain.
The trail is rated easy-to-moderate."Sections above the Viaduct and along Rough Ridge are strenuous, but overall the trail is an easy to moderate walk "by the Blue Ridge Parkway website.http://www.virtualblueridge.com/maps/tanawha-trail.asp
There will be 2 options for this hike;
1-Hike 13.5 miles from North/West to South -From Beacom Heights to the J.P.Memorial lake.Lunch spot will be on top of Raven rock.
2-Hike 27 Miles double tracking the trail. This will be a faster group.
Some highlights along the trails are ;Beacon Heights,The Viaduc,Rough Ridge,Raven Rock and many,many rolling hills and open fields and none the least the Julian Price Memorial lake.
